The medieval adventure begins on the Stone Bridge or the Capuchin Bridge, one of the oldest bridges in Europe, where you can hear the legend that has marked the town until today. Furthermore, the bridge toll collector will let you into the town only if a Euro or two get out of your purse (a copper coin worth four Austrian kreutzers). Town sightseeing will continue at the square, followed by a walk to Loka Castle, where you can see the rich museum collection and learn about the Škofja Loka history. Then it is just a few-minute walk to Nace’s House, the cultural monument of state importance, but the path leads across the Devil’s Footbridge, which will this time really be devilish in the true sense. You will continue past Puštal Castle, where knights used to dwell, and today there is a music school in it, and then ascend to the church on Hribec, but beware of the sinner in order not to be sent to the stake. The adventure will finish in one of the inns or restaurants in Škofja Loka where you can also taste the medieval culinary art.Excursions can be adapted to suit your wishes!

2. Cultural heritage in symbiosis with nature

The trip will conjure you the heterogeneous historical development of the town in the embrace of magnificent unspoilt nature. It will start by sightseeing the so-called Lontrg, where the poor people used to live. The path will lead you from the renowned Granary, past the Špital church further on towards the confluence of the two Soras, where George will meet his Agatha again. The promenade will continue towards Plac (the town square) where townspeople and merchants used to live. At the square you will see the town sights, but do not hope to get any peace as Žirov’c likes to tease and provoke people with his caustic remarks. If you only manage to trick the ingenious bridge toll collector in front of the Stone Bridge, you can visit the Post Office and Telecommunications Museum in Stara Loka and you will learn everything about the development of post office in Slovenia. A short scroll in nature will lead you to the small village Crngrob where you can see the Church of St. Mary’s Annunciation, and the trip will finish with the fascinating story about the Pegan little girl. The day will be spiced with full flavours of the Loka culinary art.

You will set out on a trail full of pleasant adventures accompanied by a cycling guide, which will take you to a magnificent world interwoven with cultural heritage and unspoilt nature. All enthusiastic cyclists will gather at Town Square, where you can first see all sights of the town. The trail will first lead you across the Devil’s Footbridge, which requires a little more skill, to Nace’s House, where you can also see its interior according to previous arrangement. Otherwise there should be no break at this point as a steep trail past Puštal Castle to the church on Hribec awaits you. On Hribec you can spend a minute or two to see the marvellous view of Škofja Loka. Cycling will continue towards the village Suha, where you can see the Church of St. John the Baptist or you can decide to continue along a few-kilometre long trail to Crngrob where you simply must see the remarkable Church of St. Mary’s Annunciation and refresh yourself in the near inn. After a short break you will continue past the village Pevno, through Stara Loka to the Vešter Mill and along a narrow path by the Selška Sora River you will arrive to Vincarje, where the last steep ascent to Loka Castle awaits you. We also recommend you to see the interesting ethnologic, historical and arts collections in the castle and then return to Town Square, where after tiring cycling you can treat yourself with delight with one of delicious pastries in the Homan Coffeehouse without having any guilty conscience.
